Flowcon Automatic flow control cartridges
Principle of Operation
The flow control cartridge of FlowCon AB and ABV valves contain two interacting components;one that has an adjustable orifice,and one that regulates the pressure differential across the adjustable orifice.The principle of operation is shown in figure 1.

The interaction of two components is shown in figure 1A.Pressure 1 (-)Pressure 3 is the total pressure drop across the valves.Pressure 2 is set by the diaphragm reacting to the upper diaphragm chamber,moving against the force of the spring.This regulates the orifice between Pressure 2 and Pressure 3 which holds the flow rate through the valve constant.

Below its pressure differential range,the valve acts as a fixed orifice.This allow a temperature control valve in the same FlowCon AB series circuit to operate with valve authority up to the set flow rate maximum.
