FlowCon Applications
Hydronic systems in modern buildings are always in a dynamic state with valves and pumps activating on demand which in turn causes pressure fluctuations throughout each part of the system. The FlowCon High Flow series of valves are designed to automatically compensate for these fluctuations to ensure that design flow rates are controlled. In doing this, the FlowCon valves allow for variable flow until the designed flow rate is met. Only at that point do they automatically respond by limiting the flow to that designed rate. The balance of the hydronic system is assured by the dynamic movement of the cartridges within the valves. This ensures that equipment such as chillers and air handling units receive allocated flow. Without pressure compensating balancing valves, circuits can be robbed of adequate flow or constantly exceed designed flow, both of which waste energy and decrease effectiveness of the system. FlowCon offers valves with a wide range of pressure differential operation, thus meeting all operating conditions. Whether they are used to maintain flow in constant flow systems or to limit maximum flow in variable systems, the FlowCon High Flow series valves economically solve these problems.

Primary / Secondary systems
Primary chillers and pumps are usually designed in parallel to allow equipment staging. This arrangement allows chillers to come on line only when required during peak cooling hours, thus conserving energy. A FlowCon Flow Controls at each chiller prevents excess flow caused by over-pumping during light load conditions. Having these flow controls also protects equipment warranties as flows will always be in therange specified by the manufacturer. Varying pressures in secondary loops due to opening and closing of temperature control valves are easily compensated for by the modulating action of FlowCon Flow Controls. In addition, having many pumps in parallel demands automatic constant flow controls to insure accurate performance on pump curves, thus conserving energy.

Cooling tower condenser system

Proper flow to a cooling tower is essential for adequate removal of heat from the condenser section of a chiller. A FlowCon valve maintains an even distribution to each condenser and also prevents cooling tower flooding.
Benefits
- Automatically maintains designed flow rate eliminating manual balancing.
- Permits variable flow up to the maximum designed rate.
- Eliminates the need to rebalance a system should circuits be added or deleted.
- Full range of sizes and flow rates : 80 DN - 800 DN, from 0.19 to 1,072.4 L/sec.
- Few moving parts.
- Optional pressure or pressure / temperature test points.
